About me
I have been in the Travel Industry for over 25 years. I have many destination specialist designations, however my expertise is with Australia, Hawaii and Ireland. I love cruising and am a Certified Virtuoso Voyages Host. And I love a great glass of wine. I also create culinary experiences for my clients such as wine lovers vacations or cooking class opportunities throughout their itinerary. I have taken the experiences I truly love and learned everything I could about them to better serve my clients. I strive to provide the best vacation experience possible for everyone.
Why I love my job
I love to travel! I love helping my clients turn their travel dreams into reality. I enjoy adding the extra touch that makes their vacation an unforgettable experience. Example: I had a request for someone to drive a Lamborghini in Italy. I worked with a luxury tour operator and my client got to drive a brand new Lamborghini for an entire day. He was ecstatic! I was thrilled he was so happy. That vacation will be one he doesn't forget any time soon. It is these great experiences that make me love my job all the more!
Favorite Destinations
I have 3 destinations that I love to visit and am an expert in. Australia - such an amazing country with so much diversity! World class wines, magnificent snorkeling and diving opportunities, rich history and culture in the Outback and interactive animal experiences. Hawaii - The perfect tropical paradise for US visitors that don't have passports. Each island is unique in their offerings and vibes for different vacation experiences. Hiking on Kauai, nightlife on Oahu, volcanoes on The Island of Hawaii and the best beaches on Maui. World class golf throughout the islands means something for everyone. Aloha! Ireland has a special draw for me. In 2003, I lived in Killarney for a period of time while on a work assignment and I fell in love with Ireland. On the weekends we explored the southern part of the country. We drove the Dingle Peninsula - my personal favorite - and The Ring of Kerry - also amazing. We got to kiss the Blarney Stone and buy crystal at the Waterford Factory. I need to get back to see the rest!
About my most memorable vacation
My most memorable vacation was going to Australia. It was 2001 right after 9/11. (So close to 9/11 we almost did not get to go.) But we did and it was nothing short of fantastic. We flew into Melbourne and spent 3 nights. What a great city to get around in. Every form of transportation can be used with a 24 hour Travel Pass. We spent one day at the Royal Botanical Gardens which was awesome. I saw fruit bats in the trees and thought they were monkeys. My husband still teases me about that! Melbourne is the cleanest city I have ever been in. And the buildings are all unique. The Clocktower Centre was awesome. There is a giant clock that comes to life every hour playing "Waltzing Matilda". We went to see that several times we liked it so much.
Our next stop was Sydney for 4 nights. While we did not get to tour the Opera House or hike the Harbor Bridge, but we did do a city tour and harbor cruise one day to see all the sights. It was awesome seeing the Opera House from the water and the Bridge from underneath. Another day we took the train out to Featherdale Wildlife Park west of Sydney. Some of the animals, like wallabies, run free around the park. You can get a photo with a Koala if you choose to. We saw fruit bats (my monkeys), kangaroos, tasmanian devils and lots of species of birds and reptiles native to Australia. Great day! Our remaining time in Sydney was spent walking around and exploring the city and the Opera House grounds.
Our last week was spent in Bundaberg, a city north of Brisbane at the southern most tip of the Great Barrier Reef. Cute little town with lots of sugar cane fields and they are famous for their Bundy Rum. We did a tour of the Bundaberg Rum Distillery and had ice cold rum and coke on draft. We also took a boat tour out to the Great Barrier Reef which was amazing. Snorkel those waters was awesome! The rest of the trip we hung out at the beach and rode bikes around town. Great vacation! But I need to go back, so much more to see and do!
