Favorite Destinations
I believe you experience the best of a destination through its food, wine (or other local beverage), and culture. My favorite destinations are those with distinct connections to all three of these elements.
We lived in the heart of Mexico a couple of times over the years, and I’ve always loved the spirit of the Mexican people, their warm and welcoming hospitality and strong sense of family. They are always up for a celebration! I love to show my clients not only the beach/resort towns (‘cuz who doesn’t love a nice beach?) but also the authentic experiences they can have in the central towns like San Miguel de Allende, Guadalajara, and Mexico City. Cultural celebrations such as Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) and Día de Reyes (Epiphany/Three Kings Day), traditions such as making tamales at Christmastime, and mariachi music at parties have always been at the heart of my most favorite memories of living there. When I add a cooking class or tequila tasting session to my clients’ itineraries, they get to experience that same sense of place and connection that I was fortunate enough to have.
Other international destinations high on my list of favorites are Italy, Spain, France, Egypt and South Africa (Cape Town is a foodie's dream, and the wines here are world-class. Paired with a life-changing safari, this is the perfect bucket list vacation).
I do love my domestic locales as well, especially Hawaii and California Wine Country (Napa and Sonoma are my jam)!
