About me
At Vamonos we do two things extremely well: we run safe and unique cultural immersion tours to multiple destinations; secondly, we intentionally create meaningful interactions with local people daily. We believe educational travel is enhanced with community outreach and service opportunities. These experiences are often life-changing.

Puerto Rico has been our main destination for the past 18 years. Our exclusive insider's perspective makes us know the island better than any other company in the business. Our founders have more than 32 years of combined experience leading student-centered immersion tours. They are passionate proponents of the “total immersion” approach to teaching culture and second language "outside the box."

Cuba is our second destination. Before former President Obama opened travel business to Cuba, we were already licensed by the Department of Treasury to conduct legal people to people tours to the once forbidden island. Meeting locals, absorbing the uniqueness of every experience, and immersing travelers in Cuba's society and nature are incomparable lifetime experiences.
We have recently added some exciting destinations while maintaining the high quality of service and expertise as with our top two destinations: Costa Rica, French Martinique, Quebec, San Antonio Mexican Heritage, and Spain!

We offer schools and tour operators a wide range of cultural, Spanish, french, service-learning, science, and creative immersion expeditions.

No one matches our vast experience in classrooms, our interaction with students, and our safety standards. We eat where locals eat, stay where locals stay, and most certainly brake for "guarapo" (sugar cane juice) when possible!
Why I love my job
Traveling abroad, and sometimes nationally, broadens people's horizons and perspectives of the world and life in general. Why do I believe what I believe? What's so special about my culture and others'? When one travels, one discovers the answers to these questions as we learn to appreciate what we have and value others' differences. There's nothing like trying different dishes, meeting new people in their own environment, and living life as locals abroad.
Favorite Destinations
My personal magical destination is La Parguera in Puerto Rico. There is just a special low-key, mysterious energy about this tiny fishing village. It's a village fairly untouched by our modern technological world where everyone knows each other and their relatives. Life is pleasantly slow, the harbor and it's idyllic cays are addictive to the eye and senses. It is just a very special place for me, far away from large cities and civilization.
About my most memorable vacation
?I recently visited French Martinique with my wife and two children. We explored the island and caught up on our French after years of rust. It was humbling to see how dependent we were on French - no one spoke English! We loved driving through the coastal cities, enjoying the hilly mountains, and meeting friendly islanders everywhere. Fort the France had plenty of history and fun activities for kids. The famous farmers' market was colorful, lively, and captivating. Daily stops for "accras de morue," the island's signature dish, was a must.
I enjoyed the culture more than anything. At nights we would stop to watch an amateur soccer practice, we would interact with locals playing petanque, and appreciate others learning beke steps at a dance studio. One evening we had dinner with locals, a tradition known as "chez le resident." We spent one entire afternoon and evening chatting, walking through a neighborhood, and having dinner at the house of locals in rural Martinique. The day was magical. I can't wait to go back, vive la Martinique!
