Favorite Destinations
Antarctica was one of the most magical destinations I have been. The crisp, fresh air free from pollution, the deep blue skies and interesting cloud formations and wildlife at every turn. Whales breaching on both sides of our ship, penguins frolicking on the icebergs and walking up to me staring me face to face. I couldn't stop smiling and laughing for the entire trip. It was pure joy to see nature up close at its finest without a crowd in sight!
About my most memorable vacation
I took my niece on a 3-week trip to Thailand and Cambodia before she started college. I felt she needed to see and experience a culture that would have an impact on the rest of her life. We really enjoyed doing "girlie" things together like foot rubs, haggling at the markets for silk and handbags and sightseeing the archeological sites and temples. But the most profound part of the trip was hiking to the hill tribe villages near Chiang Mai where we slept on straw mats in the long houses and experienced the Lahu tribe culture including a jungle safari on elephant. We also volunteered at an orphanage near Siem Reap, Cambodia for a week where we helped teach English. Experiences like these were truly rewarding and are etched in our minds forever.
