Favorite Destinations
After traveling for a number of days through the country in Kenya we took a break along the side of the road on the edge of the Great Rift Valley. The azure blue sky went on forever. There wasn't a sound made by humans and the green of the trees along with the red clay of the soil made for beautiful contrasts in colors. The incredible natural beauty brought tears to my eyes as this has been the way this area has looked since probably the beginning of time. I felt so overwhelmed by my small presence in this expanse of time and space.
About my most memorable vacation
A week in Greece is truly one of the most magnificent vacations. First a couple of days on Santorini enjoying sites that so many visitors never see and eating in restaurants frequented by mostly locals. Then off to the Peloponnesian Penninsula to visit ancient sites and the town of Nafplia, an ancient port town that is truly beautiful. Then on to the mainland where we spent several days in Meteora visiting the centuries old monasteries high on the cliffs and rock spires before heading to Athens. Each place we visited the mystery of the people that had walked in these places so long ago and their accomplishments in creating such beautiful cities and monuments fills me with awe!
