Vietnam 2020 ASTA Educational Journey

DAY 1: TUESDAY, OCTOBER 26, 2021

  • Arrivals: Upon arrival at Bucharest Int Henry Coanda Airport, we arrange the transfer to your hotel in the center of the city
  • Free time 
  • Evening Welcome Dinner

DAY 2: WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2021

  • Bucharest half day tour. We’ll visit the Palace of Parliament during an 1.5 hour guided tour. You can reach a record as this palace is the 2nd largest building in the entire world. We will then head to the Christian Orthodox Church of the Patriarchy and proceed to the Unknown soldier’s grave in the Carol Park and “The Spring Palace” the former Ceausescu family residence. Our tour will end with lunch in a restaurant or garden terrace where you will get the chance to taste local delicacies and drink the local beer or wine.

DAY 3: THURSDAY, OCTOBER 28, 2021

  • Depart north towards Sibiu, Transylvania.  During our 3.5-hour drive, we’ll bear witness to the breathtaking sites of the Carpathian Mountains in the Olt Valley. On the way to Sibiu, we’ll do several stops, including the 15th Century Cozia Monastery. After a walking tour of ASTRA outdoor ethnographic museum, we’ll check into our hotel.

DAY 4: FRIDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2021

  • Breakfast
  • Walking tour of Old Town Sibiu. Afterwards, we’ll travel to the village of Sibiel, a 30 min ride out of Sibiu. There, we will visit the Saxon fortified church built in the 13th Century, the glass painted Icons museum, and have lunch in a local pension. 
  • Return to Sibiu in the afternoon
  • Free time in Old Town Sibiu

DAY 5: SATURDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2021

  • We will depart for Sighisoara. After a 2-hour drive, we will arrive in one of Europe’s oldest and best-preserved medieval fortresses. With houses more than 300-years old, it is still inhabited. We will do a walking tour of the fortress, which includes visiting the House where Vlad Tepes, “Dracula” lived. 
  • Lunch in Sighisoara
  • Continue the trip to Brasov and check into hotel
  • Dinner in the best restaurant in Brasov

DAY 6: SUNDAY, OCTOBER 31, 2021

  • Walking tour of the Center of Brasov. We will then depart towards Bran, where after a 2-hour drive visit Bran, “Dracula’s” Castle. The Bran village is perfect to buy local souvenirs from Romania at very good prices.
  • Lunch in Bran. 
  • Dinner in the Old Town Brasov’s “Cerbul Carpatin Restaurant” with folkloric music and dancing. 
  • Halloween party at a surprise location in the Old Town of Brasov

Romania with ASTA

DAY 7: MONDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2021

  • Breakfast
  • We start traveling south again, towards 11/2/2021. Our last stop is in Sinaia to visit the stunning Peles Royal Palace. This is the most beautiful palace in Romania, built by the first king, Carol of Hohenzolern Sigmaringen, in a German Neo Renaissance style. 
  • Lunch in Sinaia. Afterwards, we return to Bucharest.
  • Farewell dinner in “Caru cu Bere”.

Romania is an EU/NATO country and is 100% safe.

You do not need a visa to enter Romania. No vaccines required.

WEATHER

Expect mild, even warm and pleasant, late autumn weather. Casual attire entire tour (no dress code), remember to bring your Halloween costumes for the Surprise party.

ELECTRICITY

Electricity is European Standard 220/240. American computer users can choose from these options:

  • Purchase a converter to transform the voltage.
  • Purchase equipment that adjusts internally to either current.

MONEY AND EXCHANGE

The monetary unit of present-day Romania is LEI/LEU. $1 = 4,3 Lei.
