FAQs
Q: When do I need to recertify?
A: You need to enroll in recertification two years from your original enrollment date. Your recertification date is tied to your original enrollment date, and sets all future dates.
Using the example to the right,
5/14/2020 - original enrollment date
5/13/2021 - when the
9 core VTA courses need to be completed (1 year)
5/12/2022 - the advisor needs to recertify on/before this date
5/11/2023 - when the
2 CEU courses need to be completed (1 year)
5/10/2024 - the advisor needs to recertify on/before this date
5/9/2025 - when the
2 CEU courses need to be completed (1 year)
5/8/2026 - advisor needs to recertify on/before this date
and continues forward...
A reminder email will be send to you 60 and 30 days before you need to recertify.
If you
don't complete your courses within the set time period, your date for recertification does not change.
IMPORTANT: Your original enrollment date is important! Your enrollment date follows you throughout the life of your certification.
Q: After I pay for my recertification, do I have to pay for the courses?
A: Most of the time no. Of the nine CEU courses ASTA has available, one is an additional fee over and above the recertification price. You will be given the option to select which courses you want to take for your CEU requirement. You do not have to select the course that has an additional fee.
